I agree, that it's definitely more about males than females, but the journalist could have made that a little clearer.

As far as the "low-maintenance" stuff, Steve has to put up with me having nuts and bolts and pieces of odds and ends strewn about while I'm building something. On the other hand, I don't ask him to fix the plumbing either cause it's more fun to do it myself.
