Quick thoughts on listening to HBP

Poor fox.
- If Horace is 'old' but not as old as AD, would he have been teaching Potions to Hagrid as well?
- Was his retirement the immediate occasion for Snape becoming Potions Master AND Head of Slytherin, or did they come to Snape at separate times?
- [AU] If Slughorn was teaching Potions to the Marauders' year, that means he was almost certainly Head of Slytherin and Potions Master to Medeni as well. [/AU]
- [AU] Were Medeni and Regulus in the same year? We've never touched on whether she had to throw frog spawn at the Slytherin boys. [/AU]
- Does anybody else get a feeling of Oscar Wilde around Slughorn, or is it just me being only vaguely familiar with the man and his works? (Or maybe even the HedonismBot from Futurama?)
- Somebody else was a little creeped out by his apparent tendency to collect more boys than girls, and true, because of the dependent and minor status of most of the Slug Club(s), there's a tiny twinge of a possible.... But it generally seems to be more admiration and reasonably benign manipulation than anything which should never be acted upon at school.
