You'd had to have read Julian May's 'vinculum', Intervention, to catch the precise meaning of that subject up there.

Let me try to sum up -- a family of extremely powerful psychics is being stealthily guided by the leader of galactic civilisation characterised by 'Unity' - not a hive mind, but perfect empathy. At a crucial point, the leader's human co-conspirator, the foster-father of the head of the family, urges his foster-son to have this conference of psychically-gifted people join in 'prayerful coercion', meaning to ask or demand the Universe bend to their collective will; in this case, a calling-out to their extraterrestrial cousins. This would be the signal that humans were ready to be contacted by the galactics, and start to be brought into the fold.

I think we've evidence this actually works. Now. With relatively normal human beings. All right, those of you who have either rejected or generally turned away from spirituality are probably snorting about now.

But I would like you to consider what seems to me to be cause-and-effect. Two incidents -- Apollo 13 and the fall of European communism.

I realise that Apollo 13 was supported by a group of just about the best minds in aerospace everything at that time. But I was old enough to remember it happening. Ron Howard reminds us fairly brilliantly in that masterwork of his, too. When three Americans were stranded in the middle of local nowhere, Outer Space, nationalism was forgotten. People around the world, for the week they were in transit, dropped thoughts of politically created borders, and whether they invoked a specific Diety or not, the whole world offered up their best thoughts, hopes and wishes that those three men come home alive and intact. A global effort, all directed to one specific goal. So many things could have gone wrong at every step, but all of the exactly right pieces fell precisely into place, with almost no room for error. And it worked out perfectly.

The fall of Communism: I don't know if you remember, but back a while ago, there was a thing called the 'Harmonic Convergence.' Wait, let me Google... ah. August 17, 1987. Now, the astronomy behind it was, as I remember, bushwah. But for whatever reason, people around the world again gathered together in groups, and almost simultaneously, sent forth strong, clear, focussed energies directed toward peace on earth, good will towards men, warm fuzzies for everyone. Or something like that. Positive energy directed toward the betterment of humanity, all concentrated into a small space.

Slightly more than two years later (good things take time to work), German citizens were standing on top of the most symbolic piece of concrete in the world, swinging at it with sledgehammers. Sure, there were long-term economic factors, political factors, lots and lots of things. But what finally tipped the balance? What was that proverbial straw?

I think it was, to use the '60s term, people power. Call it prayer, 'psychic coercion', good vibes, whatever. I think we've evidence enough for cause-and-effect that warrants further efforts. The nice thing about it is that it does NOT depend on your religion, ethics and morals, anything that people fight wars over or pass laws about. All it depends on is massed good will, strenuously projected.

What do you think?
