Behind every great man is a woman doing the actual work

At least, we're finding that more often than before. Turns out Delia Derbyshire is the person REALLY responsible for the much-beloved and iconic Doctor Who theme music.

Watch a performance of an arrangement she might have really got a kick out of - Doctor Who on Zeusaphone!

Is not the author of the music called the composer? I am somewhat confused by this distinction. Certainly, from what the article says, she should be credited as the Artist instead of Grainer, along with the rest of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Apparently she did the theme, he did the music overall for the series.

What is that TARDIS doing, in your icon?

Chasing a car with a kidnapped lady, the eponymous "Runaway Bride," later a series regular. This visual was a really notable departure from old time action shots with not much action in them, "This is not your father's Doctor Who".
