Yuck. Your kids are canines and at least you don't have to send them to college, they will never turn 16 and tell you that you are full of #$%^&, but you still have to clean up All The Yucky Stuff.

 And imagine -- when I used to gag even thinking about it... *sigh*

Where? Inside or out? Half-eaten or not? Did you have canine help in finding or disposing?

All of this makes a difference to the rich tapestry of vicarious participation. 8D

Outside, in the yard, with some damage which could indicate cat, internecine fight or awfully delicate canine nibbling.

They found it if they didn't kill it, but it might have been poisoned and we mustn't have that.

ah..... rat eh?
as a former rat breeder of show rats . may i suggest strongly that you look for chew holes, enmtrances, hidey places, and etc...
rats , once they get into a place, tend to hang around.

Farmers' Market's not that far away - and the occasional backyard fruit tree. It was definitely an external rat. The mice had found their way inside, though, but the exterminator closed up the holes and that took care of that.

Y'know, the occasional dead Lapine doesn't seem so bad, now.

The occasional dead lapine isn't likely to be running lying around full of rat poison either.

Yeah. We may have lost a dog due to poisoned mice. She had only one good kidney, &... We were sad.

Oh, got one of those for Ma a while back (different style). But it'd get contaminated unless I protected it, and then that would make the grip more uncertain, and then Puppy would jump on me and I'd drop the dead rat and have to start all over again assuming somebody didn't grab it before I could grab it again.

Ok, these guys are too cool.
