(Should have combined this with the edamame, right?)

Firstly: Stopped at PetCo on Biscayne Blvd. to troll for puppies see if there was anything there Mary's Lb. doesn't carry, and right there by the entrance there was not just a dilute Doberman (fawn or blue, for those not familiar with the term), but blond. Cream. Thiiiis far from albino. Pale blue eyes, totally pink nose and not even any visible points, just an even shade of... well, cream blond.

Actually, he looked a good bit like this dog here [warning, large image]. Apparently they call them 'white', but D'Argo is white; this guy was blond.

Secondly: After the movie, I had just enough time to make it to Wild Oats (they stay open late) to grab a couple of things. As I left the car park, a man was walking his two dogs — A 7-month-old English Bulldog with a prediliction for jumping straight up at your face, because he could; and a mixed breed who was part American Bulldog and... part corgi?!? He wasn't sure, but the dog (aside from being a real sweetheart) was built amazingly like Sirius, including general size. He couldn't be part some-other-basset breed, like Basset Hound, because he had soft pointed ears. Hound + bulldog would be a largeish floppy ear, I'm sure. What a combo!

Now that I have thrilled you all beyond all possible measure, I shall go to bed.

White dobermans are tyrosine positive albinos- it's linked to (conclusively) photosensitivity and an increase risk of skin cancers. The links to other doberman-specific health problems are unprovable, probably because no reputable doberman breeder would breed a white or white-factored dog, so the folks doing all the good health testing won't let their healthy lines anywhere near the z-regisstered dogs.

http://whitedobes.doberinfo.com/ is the best site out there about them.

[clicky] Huh. Never thought albinism came in shades.

I did ask the guy if he was careful about the dog in the sun, and he said yes emphatically. I didn't ask about the growth on his ribs, but it was so obvious I'm pretty sure he's had it looked at.

(he was still pretty, though.)

'twargi' sounds like some sort of nasty seafood-and-chicken fake creole/west indian dish.....

But the dog sounds cute. :P

Taa-ROO-gee, silly. ^_^ Bull-dog. In Welsh. They were both really nice, even if the bullpuppy had to be held off with one hand after he didn't quit on the first leap - lucky I didn't get a split lip.

I went canoing over the weekend. Several people on the water had their dogs with them. One family had a corgi in the canoe. It barely was able to see over the edge of the boat. While it was obviously happy to be on the water, I had to ask the couple if corgis can swim well.

She said not well, but they mostly just bob across the water.

LOL! Medeni couldn't float worth much; I had to try to invent water-wings for her, but a proper lifejacket would have maybe been better.

Except she hated it.

Some corgwn love the water, some are like Medeni. It isn't even breed-specific (i.e., Pemmie vs. Cardi). My three love splashing in their pool that I haven't set up because too many dogs and too much mud gah, and the girls swam competently if not terribly happily the time I took them to the beach. That was, however, salt water; maybe Medeni would have been happier with more bouyancy.

Agreed. I don't think corgwn are breed for the sea life.

Please tell me you are not contemplating bringing another dog home. You need to place your foundlings, not bring in more mouths to feed and the other ends to clean up after. Seriously.

"Trolling for puppies"? I loves me puppeez but I can't go looking at the ones at the pet store without my heart breaking. The animal shelter, even more so, since I know these critters are doomed.

The shelter where we saved Tegan has moved, I'm not sure where. Maybe just as well.

I found a stray poloroid of Sheila yesterday. On her back on the couch, being a People. Sigh. Miss her.

Mood: melancholy

OHHHhhhhh. Nonono, other peoples' puppies. To pat and fuss over and get puppy-breath kisses if I'm lucky. PetCo/Petsmart/Pet Supermarket don't sell dogs at all, although they all host adoption fairs and might have adoptable cats in residence.

Animal Control, however, slays me every time I have to go there. I'm not quite sure how I manage to walk in another time.

Awwww, Sheila. :) She was a sweetie.
