When I went to get the girls in after their 7 AM 'let-us-out-Mam', I found all four dogs playing with a new friend. A new, male, UNNEUTERED friend, who had apparently slipped into the yard through a gap just large enough in the driveway gate.

Thankfully, nobody had started much in the way of romance - I think they were all just delighted with a new playmante - and they actually came inside when I called them, except for Annie (the brat). Two+ hours later, I went outside, chased him all around the house and blocked the gate after he exited, leaving him forlorn outside the chain-link.

[rubs temples] At least it's not a harem.

P.S. Ma's pleasant mood lasting all of one day (she found some place that would take some of her imaginary money for a big bottle of whiskey), she was 'threatening' that she would move out if dogs got pregnant. REALLY really tempting, that.

Oh hell's bells, if it would get her to move out, YOU would get yourself pregnant. Or at least put a pillow under your doublet and convince her that was the case.

In the meantime, did you at least take Annie in? If she turns up in heat on the rescheduled date, you are going to feel silly. It could happen.

Annie's been in, but she doesn't have an appointment quite yet. Considering his lead time, yeah, I should've done it already but things get very distracting at the vet's office (look! French bulldog puppies!). I do need to get them tested for er.. erlich... some tick-borne disease.
