I missed Medeni's anniversary.

Until this morning, I missed Medeni's anniversary.

Mind you, Friday morning was horribly rushed with Ma being her DELIGHTFUL self; I left without licence, plastic or petrol; was knackered by the time I got home and distracted by puppies when I got there.

But still. Gawd.

The puppies play on her grave. It's high ground, such as it is in our yard, as I built it up with dirt and sod recently. That's a curious sort of commemoration, but kind of apt. She would've been doing this 'go away kid you bother me' snapping at them, but playing with them too.

*sigh*

Anyway, thinking of speaking to and about the dead, if my grandma Cronin-Babineau and my Aunt Vi were accessible, would I have words for them about their daughter/sister and how bloody spoiled she is. Grrr.

Not to be flip, but wouldn't she rather be rembembered by playing with the puppies? Such a sweet dog deserves remembrance -- I think of Sheila frequently, but not just on the day she came to us or the day she left.

Play with the puppies in the "now" some more. You're not spoiled; you're taking care of the dogs that are here and now.

Just remembering on the right day, in any wise, would have been... respectful.

But believe me, the puppies demand attention. *grin* It's really kinda cute the way they're drawn to where Medeni is/was, even if they don't know Thing One about it.
