Through no fault of his own, I've started thinking of Howard as 'the Anti-OrsonScottCard', even though I don't think rather hope Card's generally of the same mind on this one issue. But Howard doesn't write nasty rants on how to oppress people and pretend it has nothing to do with his religion/faith.

Howard says, "Hi, this is my faith, and this is why I believe."

Card goes, "Hi, this is my faith, and this is why I believe, and IF YOU DISAGREE WITH ME YOU MUST BE A HORRIBLE PERSON AND THIS WORLD IS GOING TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET AND I AM JUST GOING TO SIT HERE AND SCREAM NOW WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA".

This is why I like Howard's work immensely, while not sharing his religion.

The only problem I had with Howard's post was his bit about "it's only a theory", which to me sounded like he was using the same layman's definition of "theory" that a lot of people do, instead of the scientist's definition of it. OTOH, he did say something about ID not being falsifiable (I think), so maybe he does know the difference. Actually, come to think of it, that makes it worse rather than better...

If you want to hear some serious scorn being heaped upon ID, I suggest reading either Pharyngula (http://pharyngula.org/) or The Panda's Thumb (http://www.pandasthumb.org/).
