I guess nobody else was all that excited about the most current space shuttle mission....

Stupid fuel sensor.  Next possible shuttle launch date:  Saturday the 16th.

At least I have NASA's channel now....

Well, I was excited about it, but worried about the weather. I'd rather they launched whithout the remnants of a hurrican drifting by :b

There's a NASA channel??? O.O

Are you old enough to remember watching Cosmos? If you are, I bet you did - just like little geeky me at age 8 or so :D

You'd be surprised about the weather. Sure, they were having a bit of overcast and some showers, but the remains of Dennis were somewhere off bothering [livejournal.com profile] myfanwy or suchlike, all the way up towards the MidWest. Once they come off the coast, they start moving faster and faster as the storm strength lessens.

So there really wasn't anything there, except a high water vapour content. I even checked the satellite images (visible/infrared/nearinfrared/water vapour) out of curiosity. In fact, that part of Florida seems to've had a high sitting over it....

There's been a NASA channel for yeeeeeaaars. Didn't have access to it until I got the DirecTV though, it was one of the selling points. The live video links NASA had were the exact same feed, though, if that's any comfort. Most of what they show off-mission are various weird and quiet archive bits of interviews on- and off-planet, some experimental footage....

Cosmos? Gawd yes. Loved the music, I think I might have the soundtrack on vinyl. We all miss Unca Carl, don't we....

::SNIF:: Uncle Carl, I miss him so :(

You have the soundtrack on vial?? DUDE! I'd like to try and find it on CD. I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

Hopefully we'll be all good to go for a Monday launch.

Now if only they could come up with something from the space program that would stop my hair from FRIZZING! :b

Oh, I get excited about stuff like that, I can assure you ... however, it doesn't get anywhere near as much coverage over here. Maybe that's why my e-mails from a certain person in a the NASA department have been scarce the last week! You can always tell when there's something going down (or up, as the case may be) as my intray isn't bulging with strange humorous mails.

Wow! Didn't know they had a channel. Then again, I haven't got satellite or cable. We just have the basic five terrestrial channels which I don't bother with anyway. Saturday the 16th? BAH! They can go and whistle. There may be benefits in space travel etc, but I have a book to read!!!

I'm glad you said that that way. [cursewords] I have to remember to set the VCR to compensate for Skiffy's lousy timing. Idiots. They had to start their season THIS Friday?!?

I was, but didn't post. You should look at [livejournal.com profile] kaseido's journal--you two might get along!

I'm pretty joyed that we're on our way back to space, I just didn't have much to say about it. I'm just as joyed that a woman is commanding the mission. WWJD = What Would Janeway Do? [grin]

Yes! And it's not her first command, either! (How could I have forgotten?!?)

you're disappointed?? try the MASS of people who were parked *everywhere* to see the launch, especially people who planned their vacation to DisneyWorld in mid July just so they could go see the launch (we were standing next to them)

The good news is that they haven't rolled back the Shuttle into the VAB (which will automatically add 2 weeks to a possible launch date)

the bad news is that they fixed the fracking sensor *yet* and set a new date. Although there is now the possibility that they might launch in the first week of August. Otherwise, its mid September (the 9th I thnk was the date mentioned) I kinda hope they could launch on the 11th of Sept and go NYAH NYAH to the terrorists who tried to drag our spirit down
