Dear Rachel Ray...
Mar. 23rd, 2005 10:31 pm...as long as you're in South Florida, adding to the traffic and pretending we're all party animals who get to sleep until noon (except for the fisherfolk who got your stone crabs for you), please note that the word is pronounced 'arepa', NOT 'areeepa'.
(She did come up with an interesting seafood tip: Captain Jim's Seafood, 12950 W. Dixie Hwy., North Miami, FL 33161, (305) 892-2812 -- all local-caught, and their head chef comes from Chef Allen's. DigitalCity restaurant review here.
I don't eat the stuff myself, but it's good to know where to shop.)

Date: 2005-03-24 03:53 am (UTC)My father's a chemistry teacher so he loves Alton because of all the chemistry he uses.
:)
Personally I prefer Nigella (even though she's on Style) and Jamie Oliver... that may be because of their accents more than anything else, though. . . :)

Jamie's kind of amusing. :) I can't relate to him as well as others. I'm wondering why they aren't plugging Sarah Moulton (sp?) more; she strikes me as a lot more interesting as some of their chefs. Also, there's... drat, can't remember his name. The French chocolatier who builds those INCREDIBLE THINGS all on camera.
And, y'know, Iron Chef. :D Sakai-sama! Morimoto-san's my second-favourite. And...

Date: 2005-03-24 05:26 pm (UTC)Jamie is OK but he reminds me too much of a scary young Malcolm McDowell as Little Alex in A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. On the UK side, I'm liking Gordan Ramsay, going into marginal restaurants and kicking asses that severely need kicking!
I hear nice things about Sakai-san in person; if you remember Heneral Anne from the old Arrows OnLine group, she went to the original Morimoto vs. Flay event in NYC 'way back when and said that Sakai and Chin spent a lot of time hanging out with the fans, signing autographs and generally making themselves pleasant.

'Heneral Anne' does sound familiar. I'm basing part of my impression of him from when Elliot took him to the CIA to do a seminar and they raced apple-peeling.

Science!
Date: 2005-03-24 05:14 pm (UTC)Sarah Moulton is out. Her contract is over at the end of the year and they are not renewing her. http://nypost.com/gossip/41516.htm
So, that means Food Network needs a new short smart show host, yes? Hehehe.
Oh BTW, the Pizza episode of THE SECRET LIFE OF... was on last weekend, I barely found out in time to TiVo it. My 15 seconds happen about 10 minutes in. Whee, I am so darned star struck that it's not funny anymore.
Re: Science!
Date: 2005-03-24 06:49 pm (UTC)So... what's this with Sarah and 'a new direction'? Are they doing to Food what USA did to Skiffy? Is 'Celebrity Dish' the spearhead of their trend?
Blast, I missed most of the Pizza ep. :(
