Snow, snow, snow
Mar. 9th, 2005 04:56 pmAll the way from Indianapolis over to Boston and even down here... except, y'know, ours melts before it falls. But it's still snow in essence; it's what the Celts might call a 'soft day', although the bit up here at work is pretty vigorous for 'soft'.

We had some elections here yesterday, local stuff. The slot machine issue might have made national news, out of curiosity if nothing else. Dade voted no, Broward yes; so they'll be going in at the well-known Hollywood Dog Track, but not Flagler (for instance). The Seminole Tribe made out either way -- if anybody gets slots, they got slots, so the Hard Rock is gonna look even Vegas-y-ier realsoonnow.
One of the people running for re-election in Miramar is named 'Fitzroy Salesman'. Isn't THAT a name?! Apparently he's from Jamaica originally, which kinda explains the 'Fitzroy' part.

One of the 'deal' points that Ma insisted upon for me getting a puppy was clearing the boxes which have been residing under the kitchen table for some time. I must be in some sort of manic mode, 'cause I've already unpacked a couple-three boxes (oh, is THAT where those cake pans were hiding!). Much dust.
Marilyn's contact down here, Ruth, will be coming to do the 'home visit' on Saturday. I've already started apologising for the state of the house.... (note to self: wash the cooperative dogs, make them presentable)

Y'know, yesterday I would have sworn there were a half-dozen things I wanted to put in here, but today... I'm kinda blank.
Oh! *snap* Now I know! You must read
elasg's entry here. It's like one of those 'say a nice thing' memes without the meme part. G'wan... go, go read.

Mount St. Helens. *crazed sciencegeek grin*

OK... I found this PDF, which has one section stating:However! I can't find what the results actually are. Since I saw it had potentials for crony-ism, not that we'd have that around here *COUGHCHOKECOUGH*, I voted for 'elect' instead of 'appoint'.
And yes, the Jamaicans were rather obviously invaded by the Normans. Haven't we all been? [/arch eyebrow]
