OK, Westminster's Herding results were kinda surprising. Not the ones actually posted on the website, but before that.

Almost always, it's been the saaaaame thing -- the Pembroke and Cardigan corgis compete honourably, the Pembroke gets pulled up in the judge's cut but doesn't win. The Cardie gets nuthin'.

This time, much to my surprise and hope, the Cardigan -- name of Harry Potter, by the way -- got pulled up.

Didn't win Group, of course. *snort of annoyance* [glares at borders collectively]


I'm going to quote this e-mail response (without permission) to my offended query to the Boxer Rescue group about my turn-down, just because it shows this group has their heads in ENTIRELY the wrong place.

Dear Lisa,

I have checked in to your application and from and what I have found out is FBR doesn't serve your area. Hopefully in the future that will change. Sorry for the confusion. Maggie

Yeahhhh, you're really concerned about placing boxers in new homes. Where's Donald Trump, I need these people fired.

Oh, but the Border is beautiful. I fell a little bit in love iwth the Pem, but the Border and the Australian shepherd stole my heart.

And the Pyrenees is... wow. Beautiful. If that Peke wins I will... not be happy. I thnk those things are terribly hideous, and that one's no exception.

There was a Neapolitan mastiff named Sirius Black in the show last night.

Oh, the terrier was adorable! Have you ever seen the movie Best in Show? Because that's all I could think of the whole time she was prancing around. Cute story to her, too.

Unfortunately, Sirius did not win :( Ugly dogs, Neos are, but I was rooting for him just based on the name (you know you're a nerd WHEN...).

Yeah, and the dachsie people for this area brag on their website about placing dogs way out of state. I might look into driving for them... MAYBE. Time issues, but sometimes you just GOTTA hit the road, y'know?

I wrote to the SE Florida group asking for their help, let's see if they have brains.

pelirroja_ljc said exactly the word I wanted re: the Boxer rescue. That word is "anal." Sheesharoonie. Don't they care about placing the dogs in good homes, for the love of pete? Or is it just too much trouble for them to go outside the area? Grrr.

And I love the show dogs' names. Harry Potter and Sirius Black! Hee hee! I'm dying to have my next kitty be a black male so I can name him "Sirius." Yes, that means I'll be naming a cat after a dog but oh well!

There's got to be a German Shepherd or somesuch who's Remus Lupin, there just has to be. And then we find a Mexican Hairless and name it Peter, and an Irish setter named Lily, and.... ;)

Will do. Will also widen search- there are SO many dumped dogs. Other than female what are your criteria? Young, good with other dogs (I'm NOT transporting something that will try and eat Indy)- needs to be good with kids? Prefer pb boxer, right?

LOL! Oh, make me suffer. FORCE a corgi on me.

Ummm... the only reason I'd want purebred or half-bred is for reliability of temperment, y'know? I want a young dog because she'd likely fit in better (D'Argo - 4; Aeron - 14ish?; Chesty - 10ish) and jeez, it's more FUN.

And yeah, good with other dogs because what's the point otherwise?

Any non-corgi should be closer to D's size so he doesn't accidentally pummel them. Healthy, healthy is good 'cause I'm juggling money like mad nowadays.
