Grant's Pass dog count: 5

ETA: Sorry about that. I've found it's unlikely for me to be able to get a REAL post made from my Treo -- some kind of browser freakout -- but I wanted to make sure there was a post which would let people know I was going to say something. Backdated posts, like my Ashland post from Monday, don't show up in Friends lists.
Anyway, after leaving
sunny_daylee's spectacular house... strewth, the stars from their deck!! ...we headed up some secondary roads back to I-5, checked for corgi dolls in Ashland (the dratted place was closed), and decided to overnight in Grant's Pass, which is just a little way further into Oregon past Ashland. From here we could take a fairly direct road, Route 199, back south a little and through redwood territory to Crescent City. Crescent City itself is right on Route 101, which is the West Coast equivalent of U.S. 1 -- runs right up the edge of Oregon.
Grant's Pass itself seems to be a pleasant enough place; not as posh as Ashland, little larger than a lot of places we drove through. We were hungry, so we found a Thai restaurant in the menu-scrapbook at the Best Western, and promptly made
sit_good_dog's mouth Very Happy.
I, on the other hand, was delighted with the dog situation. On our way to go look at menus, a door barked at us. The human just leaving the room said it was OK to meet his dogs, and we found an adorable wigglebutt cocker spaniel who looked like vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce dribbles. She had a friend, an Airedale-sized mutt. They both looked like they'd just come from the groomers, and were very nice dogs. On our way back to the room after supper, voila -- a pair of whippets, one of whom was just a puppy, and clonked me in the head with her skull! Lastly, a border collie-Australian shepherd cross who was more interested in checking out scents than talking to pesky humans. V. pretty blue merle, though.
A little Cartoon Network, then we conked out. Need to be on the road early, to cover as much coast as possible!
