I'm 'rereading' by means of listening to my Jim Dale; somebody else said his reading isn't jibing with kir mentally-input emotion, and yeah -- there's some lines I don't think he's hitting quite the way they were written. But that's IMHO, and YMMV, and all those other abbrevations.

Anyway. Skimming the book (U.S. edition):
Major whimpers: pp 82-3, 158-9, 176, 475/7, 516
Minor whimpers: pp 90, 114, 120, 304-5, 378, 497/501

Much Sirius abuse. -_-

I've been playing with lj_connect because it constantly fascinates me. Out of all the other LJ usernames I've input -- from the Random Users displayed on LJ Portal -- and if I don't get a 'no friends' error, I'm only separated from most users by 4 hops. Only 4 hops! I finally got one LJournalist who was 7 hops away, but the last 3 links in both search-strings were identical.

This is why the Friendsfriends function is also so interesting. If you're not familiar with this, go to your Friends page's URL, and add another 'friends' immediately after it, no spaces. You'll get a display of all the entries on the Friends pages of your Friends. Look at the variety!

Of course, with Friends like [livejournal.com profile] soupytwist, [livejournal.com profile] ashavah, [livejournal.com profile] ninglor and [livejournal.com profile] martinhesselius, how could I not be grand-Friended to the world, eh?
