[eyes watering] I'm not sure who's going to find this just as funny as it just hit me, but let me give it a try -- I used to have a Weimaraner named Athena, because Weimies are grey, Athena-the-Classical-goddess's eyes were grey... you get that part, right? OK. Athena (the dog) would have been the envy of William Wegman if he'd ever seen her. She was silver (there's 3 or 4 shades of Weimaraner), naturally elegant and ridiculously limber. She used to twist herself into all sorts of dog-pretzels for relaxation.

So anyway, almost ever since I've had D'Argo, my mother's been saying he's Theenie reincarnated, because he is also very elegant of line, and ridiculously flexible, and balls himself up into a very compact ball to sleep when he wants to.

Here's the funny part: the grey dog died... and came back as a white dog. [falls over giggling] Praise Eru, wherever he's at.

...

...awright, so I have a really obscure sense of humour. Sue me.

More soberly:
So did anybody else watch the Super Bowl pregame fluff? Including the commemoration of the Columbia astronauts?

I'd appreciate feedback on this -- did I see just a typically-Texan (c'mon, you lot know the state has the rep) over-the-top sincere memorial?

Or did I just see President Bush's home state make a blatant, callous and revolting use of a national and in fact, planetary tragedy in order to wave a reminder of his false promises during a campaign year?

Please, tell me -- am I being paranoid and overreactive?

Keeping on the Super Bowl theme -- did anybody see any commercials that were really worth our time, other than the usually cute/clever Budweiser critter-based advert? I thought that referee one was downright misogynistic, but I'm sensitive to portrayals like that, so I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority there.

*Snicker*

Statement by NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne regarding the Super Bowl halftime show:

"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

I need to re-do my iconage. There some of my 'Auxiliary' I use a lot, some of my regular ones I hardly use at all... need better organisation.

ETA: I've been not doing what I should have been doing today by making Cowboy Bebop: The Movie screencaps. Anybody need any? They were primarily for [livejournal.com profile] sit_good_dog and [livejournal.com profile] sunny_daylee, but I think they'll share.

The only ads that stood out were the Pepsi ones (if only their soda was as good as their ads), especially the iTunes one with the kids who were sued by the music industry, and the Subway one after the game (with Wang Chung). Otherwise, it was a game that was better than the comercials. How odd.

Hee! I had a dog named Athena in my youth. She was a silly little yellow mutt, though:)

No...
And the Moon has something to do with Apollo 1, but not the Challenger nor the Columbia. :(
