I'm 'scooping' Catherine on the origin of this list -- I love Google. This is... well, let's let them tell:
The highly-respected site The Internet Movie Database asked its registered users to rank and rate films for their top 250 films survey. Below are the top 100 films from the results of their weighted, unscientific poll, tabulated in late 2002. The films are provided as a comparative measure with the other greatest films lists on this site. (reference: http://www.filmsite.org/imdb.html)
The original is cross-referenced to '"The Greatest Films" site'. Or, rather, a version of the original. This list is not exactly the same as the currently-posted one, but it'll do.
OK, bold I've seen the whole thing, italics I've seen reasonably substantial parts, and asterisks I own... or will, as soon as they release the bloody S.E. DVD.
