Kinda explains Orson Scott 'I'm promoting armed revolt due to my pique' Card, doesn't it.

I'm not so sure about this article...

I am extremely squicky about a lot of things, but I'm very, very liberal (especially on social issues).

I realise I could just be an exception, but I'm not convinced that a correlation (if there is one) actually indicates that squeamishness somehow causes social conservatism.

I honestly think empathy plays a bigger part than anything. In my experience, people who are more easily able to put themselves in other people's places, are much more likely to be liberal on social issues.

That is the stupidest piece of pseudo-science I've read in a very, very long time. I hate ALL icky squicky gross stuff and I'm a pretty darn liberal person. I hate all that stuff because I have Virgo rising and thus very refined sensibilities. Which also explains my liberalism. So bah humbug to that!

I must agree with Her Ladyship. I know too many finicky liberals, some of them in my own family.

It may be that conservatives are simply more fear-prone, which would neatly similar psychological theories I've heard (particularly a lecture on TED Talks).

One is compelled to question their scientific rigor.
It is compelling, though. They don't like it 'cause they think it's icky but they claim it's because they're BAAAAD!
