Because they want to write about guys and sex and babies, without that icky 'het' thing getting in the way.

At least, I think that's it. Personally I wouldn't go near an mpreg fic with a ten-foot barge pole. :S

Honestly, I have no idea. From what I've seen though, slash is very big in the LotR fandom. I've even come across a Frodo/Sauron fic, which made me want to spork my own eyes out.

Personally I prefer het over slash, although I do have my OTPs. ;p

I'd seen more pregnant-Frodo comments before I ever hit the 'Snape Family tradition'... thing....
