Remember what I said about the horseshoe-nail-like quality of my shredded tyre yesterday?

It gets better. US$500ish later, I have 2 new tyres, new nuts on all 4 wheels, new rotors and brake pads, an oil change, a couple of other things tweaked, and if I drive fast I might only be 15 late to work. Oh, and they had to put transmission fluid in.

Get up State Road 826 (known hereafter as 'the Palmetto'), take the flyover over to I-75 northbound... the transmission gives one BIG jolt and I start sllloooowwwwwwwiiiinnnnnnnnnnngggg dddddoooooooowwwwwwnnnnnn.

I am NOT having the tranny rebuilt AGAIN. I am now shopping for a new minivan.

No Dragon*Con. No nothing, between paying the houseloan AND a new car loan. My life will get to consist of going to work, returning from work, paying bills and if I'm lucky, being entertained solely by cablecast TV and the Internet. If I can afford it.

Here's what Sirius and I have in common: If I have my freedom of mobility taken away, I get frantic. I MUST have a car. It's different in Britain, because you can actually GET somewhere by shank's mare and bus and such, but... not here. Not unless you can 'afford' to spend all day in the getting-there.

So right now I'm miles and miles away from my house, my car has been left on the side of the expressway, and I'm looking forward to another $20K in debt... assuming I can ever leave Miramar.
