I read the blogs linked in the earlier post on this subject, and honestly... they made me sick to my metaphorical stomach. This is the same sort of infighting (only more mean-spirited) that kept the Celts from holding back the Sassenach, that divided Ireland, etc.etc.etc. That made the Democrats into the Carpeting Party - well, that and lots of money. What's probably the saddest about it, is that it looks just like the nadir of Potterfandom that was provoked by one person's sick need for attention. Who need the attention here?

And in a related vein, the feminist collective choked silence condemning Bill Clinton, pre-election, post-Monica, for his (some alleged) sexual misbehaviours has to do with the fact that they... we... were stuck between Scylla and Charybdis. Let's see, we could have shown a lack of unity by chewing on our own candidate, giving the entirely loathsome opposition more fodder for stealing votes, but remain on moral high ground; or stand pat, choke on principles and chant 'Hillary' as a secret mantra. Which gives our general/collective goals a better chance of being accomplished?
( It's one of those 'paying attention to it only seems to encourage it' situations.... )
