As far as *I* am concerned, the mustache does not exist. You are all the subject of mass hallucination.
On a similar note, when I see PoA in the theatre, that character teaching DADA is not Remus Lupin. No, it's his evil twin brother Romulus, risen from the dead to sully Remus's good name by looking remarkably like Arthur Weasley (whom I quite like, but Remus oughtn't be mistaken for his twin) and not-wearing a terrifying 'stache.
Remus is waiting somewhere southern and warm for Sirius to join him for daiquiris and some poolside romping.
*thinks*
I think this is a fine preventative measure, as it will probably save us all from weeks of Lupin-ranting almost sure to match the Faramir ranting you all were heartily sick of after TTT.

I'm just furious at hearing this. This is bad parenting and bad teaching at its peak.
You know what? I was reading Asimov's at 13. It didn't warp me.
You know what else? The "adult" themes in Asimov's (or any sci-fi mag) aren't porn; anyone who's not mature enough to deal with these stories simply won't be interested enough to read 'em.. Those sort of stories don't interest kids looking for sci-fi adventure, and they skip 'em. And those who want something erotic will be downloading it off the net, anyway.

Marriage is sacred. But it still has nothing to do with gender.
Love is patient.
Love is kind.
Love does not envy.
Love does not boast.
Love is not proud.
Love is not rude.
Love always trusts.
Love always hopes.
Love never fails.
Love is not dependent on gender.

...Yes, America has many, many faults which I would never deny but it also has many great attributes as well. But most importantly, it’s my home and I love it warts and all.
Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that one of the best things about it is that people can feel free to speak their minds. Differing opinions are a good thing. Debate and discussion challenges us to come up with the best solutions and to make the best decision possible considering all the angles. Not to mention that it would be quite boring if we all had the same opinion on the issues.
I have a ton of respect for some of you who’ve spoken out against what seems to be the majority opinion in this little corner of LJ land. That takes guts and you should get kudos for it. I sometimes spout political nonsense but I really respect the ones who call me on what I’ve said and challenge me to back up my position. I may not always like it ;-) but I respect it and appreciate it.

I was listening to the Third Age bit of the Sil on my way to work, and Tolkein says something interesting about the relationship of the three Elven rings to the One Ring and how they functioned.
It was said that the Three were under 'silent running', so to speak, until Sauron was defeated at the end of the Second Age. Then it was gradually discovered, due to the effect of the Rings, that the Ring of Air was held by Galadriel, and the Ring of Water by Elrond. By the effect of the Rings. It strongly implies that the Three were responsible for maintaining the Elves as a group in Middle Earth; maintaining Imladris and Lorien, in a way.
When the One was destroyed, it took the power of all the bound Rings with it, even though the Three were never corrupted by the One.
This actually works with my idea that that idea The Hobbit had for Arwen's fate 'being bound to the Ring' was symbolic or representative of her increased vulnerability as she lost the protection of her immortality, but remained a creature of magic. Arwen being drained by the One is just like the Three losing their effectivity to the Dark. Elrond forsaw great darkness overtaking Middle Earth when Sauron arose again, because the Elves would not be able to hold against him -- unless something unexpected occurred.
Oh, and Fingon cried out to Manwe to help his arrow shot. An isolated incident, true... but implicative that not only were the Valar called upon on occasion, but were kind of expected to respond.
P.S. Progress on Herstory Month is... progressing. Slow, but getting there.
