...on Thursday, before work, because I wasn't sure when else I'd get to it -- the weekend was, as you might have seen, Coronation, so the weekend was right out. I'm not sure if anybody else working an American job would be getting Veteran's Day off, but help desk support doesn't get as many holidays, so Monday was a work... erm... night.

So! For those others who haven't got to it yet, I will tell you that as cool as Morpheus might be, Niobe is way cooler; that injury from a small knife when echoed on a larger scale later seemed to have mismatching results, which caused restlessness and mocking from the audience with which I saw the movie; and an issue of necessary resolve made me kinda sad.

However, we do find out more of the sort of... mythological structure of the Matrix, and that it's a whole separate creature from the Machine world (and the Human world, of course, but more intimately entwined there). The Architect and the Oracle seem to be more like the avatars of Order and Chaos (cf D.C. Comics universe, specifically Dr. Fate, Kid Eternity, Guardians versus Zamarons); the Merovingian functions more like the avatar of evil, giving them a tripolar pantheon. Different.

I say he's 'evil' because he seems to be the embodiment of selfishness, and that's what most evil manifests as most obviously. Look at Voldemort for an example -- he wants everything for himself, immortality, power... it's all a selfish worldview, deliberately chosen and therefore... evil.

I know at least one of my Friends yawned through the whole thing, but I liked it enough for multiple watchings. As has also been said, it is much of the eye candy. The Kid gets to return from The Animatrix and Matrix Reloaded in a more effective role (gawd, I love good background detail!), Niobe is Teh Kewlest, the original Oracle is honoured nicely in a bit of dialog if you know how to interpret it, and Hugo Weaving... whoa. Hugo, welcome to being an immortal character, even more so than Elrond.

Trinity keeps reminding me of Medeni Ci-Jones, though. Distracting. :)
