45 hours, 42 minutes and 19 seconds.

I reserved a U.S. copy at Books & Books. I don't wanna wait, I think, for Amazon.ca's mail -- let's see if my resolve stiffens. Gwynne helped me find out that B&N has the CDs cheapest, and the U.S. ones are simultaneous release.

In other news, I have to be in northern Palm Beach at 09:30 on Saturday. Dear God.

To spare you from
other than my
squealing-fangirlish countdown...

30 hours, 3 minutes and 1 second...!

...I finally got to read the paper, or at least what my mother saves for me because she thinks I'd find some bit or another interesting. I usually don't have the time for it otherwise, because I have to read everything (even the Sports section sometimes).

So I'm sharing some of these articles with you.

LEONARD PITTS JR./COMMENTARYI really like Leonard's viewpoint; he's very forthright without being rude about it, and humanist without seeming like a raging political nutcase, if that makes any sense to you. )

Young readers are wizards at plotting Harry's plightAhhhh... BORN to post at fanfiction.net. [ducks quickly] )

Hard part of Easy-Bake cooking: keeping a straight faceI used to make these =tasty= baked-cheese crisps in mine... never reproduced it in a 'real oven'. )

In Key West, rainbow stretches from sea to seaThere's another photo I couldn't find on-line which shows one of the volunteers holding her edge of the flag. The 'shadow' streaming over her feet (sunlight pouring through the fabric) looks like a perfect prism-cast rainbow.... )

Chicago lets you take your dog on a cruise -- according to the Wednesday's Herald, page 6E, you and your favourite canine (oh... Padfoot?) can tour around the lake and river for 90 minutes on the Mercury fleet for only $22 on sunny Chicagoland summer Sundays. There's hope out there yet for tolerance. *cough*

Lastly, they closed the Pasadena Freeway (which I believe is the oldest freeway in the U.S.) to allow foot and bike traffic only for three hours, 07:00-10:00, this past Sunday, June 15th. This unusual event was to highlight the original design purpose of the 'Arroyo Seco Parkway', draw the communities along it together, and to highlight the unique Southern Californian environment. Apparently it was a huge success! I'm sorry I missed it.

I've been browing friendsfriends, as most of my Friends are trundling off to GEEXM00T already....

Borrowed wholesale from [livejournal.com profile] almostpretty:

someone asked [livejournal.com profile] katemonkey - "How many fanfic writers does it take to change a lightbulb?"
Her reply:

"One to notice that the lightbulb's out and to post it to her livejournal/a mailing list/etc. Five to commiserate with her. Two to talk about previous fandoms and what they did when it came to lightbulbs. One more to not see the original post and post that the lightbulb's out. Three to point out that person A already posted about it. Five more to defend person B for not knowing about person A. Five more to defend person A against the insults from the people defending person B. One person to post the entire argument onto fandom_wank. Twenty people to make cracks about lightbulbs, the people involved, and random in-jokes. And, finally, two people to point out that the lightbulb isn't a part of canon anyway. That's...45 people. Minimum."

(sounds familiar, doesn't it?)
