Did you know you can get hard-boiled eggs at Publix Deli? Four cost me a buck; they're $2.39/lb.

Anyway, two of the upcoming profiles had to be heavily formatted to get the right effect; I'm not sure the font size will work for everyone, so if you've any problems reading them (you'll know them when I post them), please let me know and I'll post a relatively plain-text version.

Pick an interest from my interests page that either 1) you know nothing about but sounds intriguing, or 2) you know something about but can't fathom why yours truly would be interested in it, and demand an explanation. Verily, I will provide.Drat. I forgot the other thing I wanted to post [frustrated look]. Probably something about Sirius being at zenith at sunset nowadays, which means we're close to losing him for the summer.... Bah.

About 'Caerfyrddin'
Date: 2004-03-14 12:34 pm (UTC)Caerfyrddin, or as the Romans called it, 'Maridunum' (sea-fort), was also one of the four locations the Romans (relentlessly grid-centric) built an amphitheatre, the focus of Roman social activity whereever one was built. It's been mostly cannibalised by people wanting the dressed stone before the historians came to realise what it was and placed it under protection, but it's still there and able to be visited.
After the Romans came King Arthur -- Bryn Myrddin, just outside of town proper, was claimed to be Merlin's home (it was an early Briton earthwork hillfort); Merlin's Oak used to be over on the east side of town... then in a traffic circle... then they dug it up. There's a cement patch of complete anonymity there now, alas.
Anyway, I went to a year of college there, at Coleg y Drindod (Trinity College), a teaching college right next to 'the art school'.
Watch the movie!
