Not too much on my mind, other than trying to get everything to fit in my schedule. There's an appointment with the accountant, and of course work, and buying dog food, and attending Their Majesties of Trimaris, and visiting our neighbor shire-let to the south this weekend... and everything on-line at the same time.

And I don't even have human kids. Makes me feel like a bit of a whiner to even tick off a list....

Anyway, I've been being compulsively creative, on a low level -- Yin, maybe you can look these over and give me some hints. More Amazonian Icons

[livejournal.com profile] awelkin, look! Zatanna icons! Did them partly 'cause of you. *beam*

And since I have a bunch of these saved up, let's see if we can work a theme here....

Ravenclaw! Some might see you as a bit haughty, but
that's just because they lack the intellectual
capacity to be worthy of your presence. You see
little difference between enlightenment and
entertainment; learning experiences are
tremendously enjoyable for you. And remember,
kids: just because you're brilliant doesn't
mean you're studious!

Harry Potter Ship Archetype Sorter

R/H supporter
R/H- Some answers you gave seemed to follow a pattern of a typical Ron Weasley/Hermione Granger supporter, although the quiz could easily be wrong. One for me if it got it right, though!... press "see all results" for access to a smaller version for low-res computers. The R/H archetype is that of Ron and Hermione, seemingly very opposite in nature, are a better fit than they seem, compensating for their own weaknesses. Hermione would need Ron to "lighten up" and de-stress, see the bigger picture and accept herself as she is; Ron will need her to be motivated, be his guide and inspire him to stand against the wrong in the world. Together they'll make a couple that'll be a balanced mix of open-mindedness and powerful thought, intense activity for the side of good and the simplicity of just being normal.

R/Hers tend to support their claims with text and interpretations of motivations of characters; What Ron and Hermione must have been thinking and doing when we didn't see them, or the thoughts that roam through their heads. R/H is far from being perfect, though. People who deny it have a vast array of criticism- from Ron not being worthy of Hermione, to the obvious, glaring problem of their constant fights, to the foreshadowing being so blatantly obvious that it's there to misguide people (Through 'Goblet of Fire' in particular). Many of the opposers claim that their pairing might be an inevitability, seeing how it's pretty much lockhart-is-a-brainless-git-obviously slammed in the face of readers now, but they won't last due to their tendency to bicker and disagree, eventually realise that it just won't work out and break up.

The most valid counter-argument to the "too obvious" problem is that Rowling could be misleading when dealing with plot points, but not characterization. Having two people who have been getting closer to a relationship just not have one for the surprise factor is not good writing. For the claim that they won't be suitable for one another, it is usually counter-argued that they are working on getting along, and are getting better at it from argument to argument (compare length and conclusion of PoA cat/rat feud to GoF Yule Ball fight), and that they DO make a good couple, for reasons stated in the first paragraph. Who knows what Rowling is actually planning (or not planning) for both of them? All we can do is wait in excruciating agony as time passes sloooooooooooooooowly until the next book, and, hopefully, see.

The R/H ship is called (simply) the "Good Ship R/H", a simple name without any backstory to it (as far as I know, it might have an actual other name. I'd be glad to hear of it if it does.) A well-known website dealing with R/H is called the Sugar Quill (www.sugarquill.net). They offer an archive of fan literature (fanfics) and fan art, plus a variety of interesting article archives and general reading material. If you have (or know of) a R/H site you feel has good enough value to the potential (or rabid) R/Her to be linked from here, drop me a note by E-mail.
